Gypsum Shaftliner

Combining fire resistance, sound abatement and ease of application, Temple-Inland’s SilentGuard Shaftliner is an attractive alternative to traditional masonry construction for elevator shafts, stairwells, air and mechanical shafts, grease ducts, as well as area separation walls. It is designed for installation from the perimeter of the shaft, eliminating the cost and labor of scaffolding construction.

Features:

  • More labor, time and cost efficient than masonry construction
  • Edges are double beveled for ease of installation into metal framing
  • Fire resistance classified by Underwriters Laboratories according to ASTM E119
  • Available with a minimum of 93% certified recycled content on a dry-weight basis in accordance with ISO 14021 standards

Limitations:

  • For use only in non-load bearing assemblies
  • Avoid exposure to prolonged, excessive temperatures: 125°F (52°C)
  • Avoid exposure to excessive or continuous moisture

Storage:

Gypsum wallboards should be carried, never dragged, to prevent damaging the finished edges. When storing gypsum boards, store them indoors and protect them from weather and direct sunlight. Boards should be stored lying flat and neatly stacked. Care should be taken to prevent sagging or damage to edges, ends and surfaces. Placing boards against framing is not recommended.
